Valugan Bay, popularly known as Boulder Beach, is a bay that lies on the east side of Batan Island in Barangay Ihuvok II (Kayvaluganan) in the province of Batanes, the Philippines.
I went here at 11:30 a.m. on February 21, 2014. This was during my first time in Batanes, the 29th province on my list.
What to see
Valugan Bay is covered with smooth boulders of varying sizes of andesite stones. Aside from the boulder beach, one can see the active volcano Mount Iraya and the Pacific Ocean.
How to get to Valugan Bay
From downtown Basco, ride a tricycle and tell the driver to drop you off at Vulugan Bay. Travel time is around 15 minutes and costs about Php 100. If you are on a bike, go towards Basco Airport and take Fajardo Street and then go straight all the way to the bay. Alternatively, you may join a group tour organized by local guides.
