If you talk to frequent Pinoy backpackers and joy-trippers, they will tell you that one of the best places to go if you want to commune with the ocean is Davao del Norte. In Samal City, only 15 minutes shy from Davao City’s city wharf, there’s a long stretch of different beach resorts that hold wonderful surprises for beach lovers.
If you are planning a vacation to Samal, you may want to check these beach resorts.
Paradise Island Beach Resort
For decades and still counting, Paradise Island Beach Resort stays at the most popular list for Davao beach resorts. Its shoreline is longer compared to other beach resorts and they have a lot of tables and chairs (all free for use) and they’re also known to serve really good food. Try out their beach side massage services while sipping fresh fruit smoothies a la Boracay. Overnight rates start at P2500/night.
Bali Bali
If you’re planning a honeymoon-like trip, a great place to stay is Bali Bali. It is a little far (about an hour away from the barge) but it’s really worth it when you get there. They only house nine studio-like rooms with a spacious bathroom, queen sized beds, and comfy nooks which double as coffee tables or little living rooms. Although the beachfront is a little small, it’s clean and the place is really quiet and private. There’s also a beautiful infinity pool in the middle of the resort which harbors the best view for pictures. Rooms start at P8,000/night complete with 3 meals and 2 snacks.
Maxima Aquafun
For the adventure-thirsty, you better head to Maxima Aquafun. By far, this is Samal’s beach resort with the most activities on their menu. You can go para-sailing, canopy walking, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, jet-skiing, swimming, sliding down their giant slides and ride the banana boat. Bonus: they even have a few exotic treats on their restaurant. Air-con rooms start at P1500/night.
Chemas Private Resort
This private beach resort is also a famous spot for beach weddings and private photo shoots because of its seclusion and how clean its surroundings are. They have an in-house restaurant and aside from the nature’s gentle sounds, the resort also plays jazz and bossa all day, which makes for a more relaxing time. Room rates start at P4000/night, good for 2 already.
Pearl Farm Beach Resort
Known as Davao’s longest running most posh beach resort, Pearl Farm captures the hearts of locals and tourists alike. As soon as you step out of the boat, you will be greeted with a refreshing punch and you will be guided to a cozy, well-kept room made of wood or bamboo. Some rooms are at the hilltop and some are sitting just above the sea. The food is great, the bar is packed with a wide variety of drinks and service is exceptional. What’s more, the landscape is truly Instagram-worthy! Rooms start around P6,000/head/night. If you want a more private experience, check out Pearl Farm’s Malipano Island, where villa rooms start at around P20,000/night.
