Iloilo to Celebrate First Bike Festival

Iloilo City will celebrate its first Bike Festival set on March 30, 2014 to promote sports tourism activity that pushes for healthy lifestyle, creates awareness of protecting the environment, and highlights the attractions of the city.

The bike tour will be divided in three legs that include the city tour, the Metro Iloilo Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC) bike tour, and the Guimaras bike tour.

The city tour will start in the Megaworld Iloilo Business Park area in Mandurriao and will pass by Plaza Libertad, Fort San Pedro, Muelle Loney, Calle Real, and the Arroyo Fountain then proceed to General Luna before passing by the Molo Plaza, Arevalo Plaza, Carpenters Bridge, Iloilo River Esplanade, Diversion Road, Jaro Plaza (Graciano Lopez Jaena Park), La Paz Plaza, Calle Real, and back to Megaworld Iloilo Business Park.

Through this festival, Iloilo will showcase the city’s tourist attractions  and its new bicycle lanes particularly on Benigno Aquino Avenue and create environmental awareness among its residents and visitors.

To cap off the First Iloilo Bike Festival, after the city tour, a sunset fun run will also be held and there will be a bike party, concerts, and a bike show.
