Kabalawan Island is one of the islands situated along San Juanico Strait, a narrow strait that separates the islands of Leyte and Samar. The island is filled with grass and coconut trees.
I saw Kabalawan Island while walking at San Juanico Bridge and crossing San Juanico Strait at around 5:30pm on July 17, 2013. This was during my first time in Letye and Samar, the 21st and 22nd provinces on my list.
I am not sure if this island is private and if people are permitted to go here.
How to go to Kabalawan Island
From Downtown, walk towards Tacloban Public Market. In front of the market is a jeepney terminal, ride the one going to San Juanico Bridge. Fare is Php 8 and travel time is around 20 minutes.
