Places to Visit on an Art Holiday in Venice

If you are among those with a passion for great works of art then Venice is a place you cannot afford to miss out. The city has been a hotbed of both art and culture over centuries now and the various attractions of the city are a proof to this fact. Among all the Italian cities, no other can claim to boast the kind of art heritage that Venice does. And in spite of the presence of so many fabulous landmarks, there are some attractions that can be considered as must-see during an Art holiday in Venice.

Palazzo Ducale, also known as the Doge’s Palace, is among the most famed structures in Venice and has some amazing history associated with it. The building has seen many changes of hands and was used for different purposes at different periods of time. Some of the well-known purposes include the government’s home, home of Venice’s elected ruler, home of the city’s law courts and it even served as the city’s prison for some time. Even the passing of many centuries has not dimmed the aura of this structure as it continues to house some of the best artworks of history.

Every city has a central place that characterizes everything about it. St. Mark’s Square is one of such places for every visitor to Venice. The place is considered as a success of exotic architecture and this is manifested in the various buildings that are nothing short of awe- inspiring and gorgeous. No Art holiday in Venice can be complete without a visit to this place. Apart from the fantastic artisanship that is visible here, the highly vibrant culture is an addition to the overall experience. This is perhaps why tourists tend to massively attend this square.

Although the city has many other places of interest from the art point of view, these two stand out a bit among the rest.
